Quest Components offers various options to create your Bill of Materials. You can upload a file, create a list using Quick Add option or just add a part numbers one at a time from the product listing page. Whichever way you prefer, Quest Components BOM Import Tool will have all the features you need to create your BOM now or in the future.

  • First, let's look for the BOM Import Tool under Tools from the navigation menu.

  • Make sure you're logged-in to be able use this tool.

  1. STEP 1: Select a file to upload.

    Click the Browser button or textbox to select a file to upload. You can upload xls, xlxs, csv and txt files only. After selecting a file, click the UPLOAD button.

    We recommend that you use our BOM template for easier data mapping.
    Tick the checkbox for header
    Make sure to check the checkbox for the header.
  2. STEP 2: Column Mapping

    Specify the columns to be mapped for Part Number and Quantity (mandatory columns). Select from the dropdownlist, these are the columns from your uploaded file. Please make sure that the data for Quantity are numeric (no spaces or any characters except for numbers), the same with Target Price (accept period or dot only). When you're done mapping the columns, click the NEXT button.

    Don't forget to verify the information of your uploaded file.

    At this point, if you navigate away from the page you will lose your data and will need to start over again.
  3. STEP 3: BOM Creation

    The table shows your items' status after the matching process. On the Lead Time column shows availability of the item. If you see Not Matched, it means that we didn't find that part number in our database. When creating your BOM, you have an option to create a new BOM or just add these new items to an existing BOM.

      For items that are not matched, click View Possible Matches to see if we have a possible match for your item. If there is, just click the SELECT button. This will update the part number of your item to the one you have selected.

      Select items for BOM by checking on the checkboxes. You can Select All by checking the checkbox on the table header.

    • 3.3

      If you are going to create a new BOM, BOM name should be at least 6 characters. If your BOM is per board, check on the checkbox. a textbox will show-up for you to enter the number of boards. Click SAVE BOM button, when your done with the BOM name and Per Board. Otherwise, if you will add these items to an existing BOM, just click ADD TO EXISTING BOM button and list of your existing BOM will show-up. Just select from that list. And you're done!

  1. STEP 1: Quick Add part numbers.

    Enter or copy/paste the part numbers in the provided textarea. It is important that each part number are separated by full (carriage) return as shown below. When you're done, click the QUICK ADD button.

  2. STEP 2: Verify Part Number and edit Quantity

    Quantity is equal to 1 by default, so you need to edit these values with the quantity you require for that item. When you're done verifying and editing the data, click on the NEXT button.

  3. STEP 3: BOM Creation

    Just like for upload file option, on step 3 the table shows your items' status after the matching process. On the Lead Time column shows availability of the item. If you see Not Matched, it means that we didn't find that part number in our database. When creating your BOM, you have an option to create a new BOM or just add these new items to an existing BOM.

Manage Your BOM User Guide

To start go to My Account page, click BOM Cart tab and click Manage BOMs link.

To start managing your BOM, go to my account page.
You need to be logged-in to manage your BOMs.

  • View your BOM

    Here you will see all your BOM's information. Also, you can edit your BOM's number of boards, view your BOM's items and if you no longer needed a BOM, you can delete it here.

  • Edit Qty Per Board

    Just click the pencil icon to update the number of boards' value. If you want to update it from No to Yes, check the checkbox and enter a value for # of boards (should be greater than 2 otherwise no need to update this field). When you're done click SAVE button. But if you want to change it from Yes to No, just uncheck the checkbox and click SAVE button.

  • Delete you BOM

    Just click the DELETE button and your BOM will be deleted. Please be reminded that any active BOM transaction related to the BOM being deleted will be deleted too.

  • View BOM Items

    Just click the VIEW button to see the BOM items information.

    Here you can checkout, edit or delete your BOM items. You can see your BOM information such as matched and not matched items.

  • Edit your BOM Items

    For items with stock, you can edit the manufacturer, qty per board and my part number fields. And for RFQ items, you can update the qty per board, my part number and target price. Just click the pencil icon and these fields will be enabled. When you're done editing, click on the save icon or you can cancel your changes too.

  • Delete your BOM items

    Deleting a BOM item is easy, just click the trash bin icon. Please be reminded that the delete function is straigh-forward, no confimation will be asked from you. Once you click it, the item will be deleted.

  • Checkout BOM items

    To checkout BOM items, check the checkbox of the items for checkout. You can check the Select All checkbox on the header to select all items and then click SECURE CHECKOUT or EXPRESS CHECKOUT button.

    If the BOM items being checked out has no RFQ item, you will be redirected to the checkout page after clicking the button.

    Otherwise, if there's even 1 RFQ item included in your BOM checkout, your BOM checkout will be held for review by our staff. Instead of the checkout page, you will be redirected to the cart page where you can check the status of your BOM checkout transaction.

    An info icon on a BOM item indicates that it is a RFQ item.
BOM Transactions

BOM Transaction is a pending BOM checkout which awaits review from us due to a RFQ item. Once the review is over, the status will be updated from Pending for Review to Ready for Checkout. BOM transaction name has the BOM name and the date when the BOM checkout is done. You can find all your BOM Transactions on Cart page and then click the BOM Cart tab.

View and Checkout BOM Transactions

To view a BOM Transaction just click on the Transaction Name. Here you will see the data of your BOM checkout. If the status is Ready for Checkout, you can checkout these BOM items by clicking the SECURE CHECKOUT OR EXPRESS CHECKOUT buttons.
